Walk through a world-changing landscape
The Derrigimlagh or Marconi Loop is an easy, mostly level route across bogland south of Clifden. The landscape holds two extraordinary stories: Marconi’s transatlantic wireless station and the landing place of Alcock and Brown after the first non-stop transatlantic flight.
Allow time to stop at the interpretation points. The official Sport Ireland listing gives the loop as 4.5 kilometres, using roadway, gravel track and short boardwalk sections.
A round at Connemara Golf Links
Connemara Championship Golf Links sits here in Ballyconneely, where the fairways meet Atlantic views, beaches and the Twelve Bens. The Eddie Hackett-designed course celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2023 and now offers 27 holes.
It is a wonderful local day even when the weather changes—this is links golf, after all. Visitors should check tee-time availability directly with the club.
